Short answer: yes. Longer answer: book it for your first morning, not your last.
Why the first morning
Flights are cancelled for wind more often than people expect — roughly one morning in four across the year. If you book the first of three mornings, you have two more chances. Book the last and a cancellation ends the matter.
What it costs and what you get
Around an hour in the air, typically launching before sunrise with 16 to 24 people in the basket. The moment worth paying for is the ten minutes when a hundred other balloons rise at once out of the valleys.
Standard versus comfort flights
Comfort flights carry fewer passengers and stay up slightly longer. If you are nervous about crowding at the basket edge, it is the upgrade we'd suggest.
If it's cancelled
Refunds are standard for weather cancellations. The Red Valley at sunrise on foot is a genuine consolation, and Göreme's open-air museum is better early anyway.
Where to stay
A cave hotel in Göreme or Uçhisar puts you close to the launch fields and shortens the 4:30am pickup. Ask for a terrace room facing the valley.
