Dubai has a season, and travelling outside it changes the trip completely. Here is how each month actually feels.
The short answer
November to March. Daytime highs sit between 24°C and 30°C, evenings are genuinely pleasant, and every outdoor thing the city is known for — the desert, the beaches, the Marina walk, Global Village — is open and comfortable.
December and January
Peak season, and priced like it. Hotel rates can double over the New Year week and the big attractions need pre-booking. If you want the postcard version of Dubai and don't mind paying for it, this is the window.
February and March
Our pick. Almost identical weather to December at noticeably lower rates, with fewer people at the top of the Burj Khalifa. Ramadan timing shifts each year and affects daytime dining hours, so check before you lock dates.
April, May and October
Shoulder months. April and October are warm but workable if you plan indoor activities for the middle of the day. Rates drop sharply and the desert evenings are still excellent.
June to September
Hot — 42°C and up, with humidity along the coast. The city is built for it: malls, indoor parks, aquariums and hotel pools chilled below air temperature. Summer is when Dubai is cheapest by a wide margin, and for a family holiday built around indoor attractions it can be very good value.
What we'd book in each season
Winter: desert safari, Marina cruise, beach club days. Summer: IMG Worlds, the Dubai Aquarium, Ski Dubai, and a hotel with a serious pool. The itinerary should change with the month, not just the price.
